The origin of Vastu Shastra dates back to the Vedic period. It literally translates to ‘science of architecture’ which describes how everything in the universe has a level of energy to them. For instance, even the land where a building is erected gives off vibrations of energy. Hence, by following its guidelines, one can assimilate well-being and happiness into life.
Here are 5 key Vastu aspects one should remember when buying a new home:
The entrance of your home is the portal to your world. Vastu Shastra tells us that the entrance gate should be located at the north-east corner. The reason being that is because the sun rays entering from south or west direction are very harmful.
2. Wall Colours
The colors of the walls of our home not only spruce up the living space, but they also have certain advantages. According to Vastu Shastra, the wall colors have various attributes that radiate positive aura. For example, the living room should have warm colors like white, light yellow or light green as these colors are welcoming to the guests. The bedroom should have pastel colors like light rose, grey or blue as these colors bring calmness. And the kitchen should have vibrant colors like orange or purple because these colors are bright and natural.
3. Kid’s Room
The kid’s room should always radiate positive aura. According to Vastu, the door to the kid’s room should not directly face the bed. It also suggests avoiding any exposed mirror in the kid’s room and not to place any kind of mirror in front of the bed as it affects their health. As green color is associated with peace and increases brain power, it advises painting the kid’s room with the color green.
4. Toilets and Bathrooms:
Like for other rooms, Vastu has specific guidelines for bathrooms and toilets as well. It recommends using wooden doors for bathrooms and toilets instead of metal doors as they foster negativity. It also advises keeping the doors closed at all times to avoid letting in negative energy and create obstacles in one’s career and personal relationships.
5. Centre of the Apartment:
The center of your home is where you give your guests a peek into your life. As per Vastu Shastra, the center of your home should be open, unspoiled and allow ample light. Therefore, closed spaces like the kitchen or toilets should not be placed there. Having a living room is an ideal choice.
